Grottes des Demoiselles

The Grotte des Demoiselles, also called the ‘fairy cave’, sets in the Haute Vallée de l'Hérault, between the Cevennes and the Mediterranean Sea, at the foot of the limestone plateau of Thaurac, in Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois. In an enormous chamber that could fit a cathedral, you can discover calcareous concretions, stalactites and stalagmites with human forms evoking the Madonna and Child. This room is occasionally used as a concert room, for the very particular acoustics. If you can assist one of the concerts, it would really be worth it.
